One bright morning in early spring, the little animals of Maplewood Forest woke up to a very special day. It was Tree Planting Day!
Benny the Bear, Lily the Rabbit, Oliver the Owl, Daisy the Deer, and Max the Mouse met near the green hill. They had been waiting for this day all winter long.
“I brought a tiny apple tree!” said Benny, holding a small sapling with his big, careful paws.
“I brought a cherry tree!” said Lily, her long ears bouncing with excitement.
“I brought an acorn,” said Oliver, blinking his wise eyes. “One day, it will grow into a tall oak tree.”
Daisy smiled softly. “I brought a little pear tree.”
Max the Mouse looked down at his small paws. “I only have this,” he whispered. “It is a very tiny seed.”
Benny patted Max’s head gently. “Small things can grow into big, beautiful things,” he said. “That is the magic of trees.”
The friends began to dig holes in the soft earth. Benny dug the biggest hole, because his paws were strong. Lily made the edges neat and tidy. Oliver watched the sky to make sure no storm was coming. Daisy carried water from the little stream, and Max helped by placing each seed and sapling just right.
When the trees were planted, the animals stood back and looked at their work.
“They look so small,” said Lily.
“They are small now,” said Oliver. “But one day, they will give shade, fruit, flowers, and homes to many friends.”
Max looked at his tiny seed. “Will anyone ever notice my tree?”
Daisy bent down and smiled. “Yes,” she said. “Because you planted it with love.”
That afternoon, the animals sang a little planting song and tied soft ribbons around each tree. The wind blew gently through the new leaves, as if the forest itself was saying thank you.
Before going home, Benny made a promise. “Let’s come back every spring and check on our trees.”
“Yes!” said Lily. “Maybe one day we can have a picnic under them.”
“And maybe birds will build nests,” added Oliver.
“And maybe squirrels will find acorns,” said Daisy.
Max hugged his tiny seed spot. “And maybe my tree will grow tall and strong, just like everyone else’s.”
That night, as the moon rose over Maplewood Forest, each little animal dreamed of green leaves, sweet fruit, and a forest full of friends. And somewhere on the hill, five little trees stood quietly in the starlight, beginning their long and happy journey toward the sky.
The end.
