The alley is very narrow, only a little over one meter long, with old courtyards on both sides, and it is very quiet during the day and night. There is a boy living in the alley who behaves very badly. He should be around ten years old that year, often doing things like stealing chickens and dogs, and even bullying children younger than him. His favorite thing to do is to pretend to be a ghost and scare people at night, whether they are adults or children. Sometimes he wears a scary mask, sometimes he smears some blood on his face. When a person walks in the alley, he suddenly jumps out and scares them half to death.

That alley is quite crooked, although there are a few wall lamps inside, which illuminate the alley with mixed brightness and darkness, but it feels even more eerie. That alley is a dead end, with a small temple abandoned for many years at the end. Even if you walk inside during the day, you feel a little uneasy. I once walked past there at night and suddenly heard the wind blowing the paper behind me, making a rustling sound that scared my scalp and made me never walk from there again.

Speaking of the little boy who loves to play the ghost, because many people in the same alley have been scared by him, he complained to his parents. His parents didn’t care and even said why do people see things the same way as children. So, it seems like God’s punishment has come.

One night, the little boy disguised himself as a ghost to scare people, but he ran back home in just a moment. After returning home, the adult saw that his eyes were protruding, his hair was standing up one by one, his face was as white as paper, and he could not speak with his mouth wide open. His appearance was as if he had seen a ghost. His family took him to the hospital but couldn’t find any illness, so they asked for guidance from a master. The master only glanced at him and shook his head without saying a word before leaving. In a few days, the boy died.

People were discussing it, and some said that when the boy went to pretend to be a ghost to scare people that night, this “fake” met the “real”. The “real” saw him and went up to say hello, but the result was…

When I was a child, there was an alley near my home called Miao Lane, which was an old alley with a hundred years of history.
