He loved to swing from branch to branch, chase butterflies, and — most of all — drink cool, sweet water from the old stone well at the edge of the village.

But one hot summer morning, something terrible happened.

Milo swung down to the well, just like he did every day, and peeked inside.

“Oh no!” he cried. “The water is gone!”

The well was dry. Not a single drop.

Milo scratched his head. He scratched his tail. He even scratched his tummy. But scratching didn’t bring water back.

“I must find water for everyone,” said Milo bravely. “The flowers are thirsty. The birds are thirsty. Even the little frogs have stopped singing!”

So Milo packed a tiny bag with three ripe bananas and set off on an adventure.

First, he met Luna, a wise old owl who lived in the tallest tree.

“Luna,” asked Milo, “do you know where the water went?”

Luna blinked her big golden eyes and said, “The little stream that feeds the well has moved. It flows behind the Whispering Rocks now. But the path is tricky, little monkey.”

“Thank you, Luna!” said Milo, and off he went.

Next, he met Pip, a tiny green frog sitting on a dry lily pad.

“Pip, will you come with me?” asked Milo. “We need water!”

“I would love to,” said Pip, “but I’m too small and too tired to walk that far.”

Milo smiled gently. “Then I’ll carry you on my back!”

And so, little Pip hopped onto Milo’s fluffy shoulder, and together they walked toward the Whispering Rocks.

When they arrived, the rocks were tall and grey, and the wind made a softwhoosh-whoosh sound as it blew between them.

Behind the rocks — there it was! A beautiful little stream, sparkling in the sunlight like a ribbon of silver.

“We found it!” cheered Milo.

But then Milo’s smile faded. “How will we bring the water back to the well? It’s so far away.”

Pip thought for a moment. Then he looked at the big leaves growing near the stream.

“Milo! We can use these leaves like little boats! We can carry water in them!”

Milo’s eyes lit up. “That’s a wonderful idea, Pip!”

So Milo carefully folded the biggest leaves into small cups, filled them with cool water, and balanced them on his head, his hands, and even his tail.

He walked slowly and carefully all the way back to the village.

Some water spilled. Then a little more. But Milo never gave up.

Back and forth he went — trip after trip — with Pip cheering him on.
“You can do it, Milo! Almost there!”

By the time the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, the old stone well was full again.

The flowers lifted their petals and drank happily.

The birds splashed and chirped with joy.

And the little frogs? They started singing their evening song once more.
Ribbit, ribbit, tralala~

Milo sat by the well, tired but so happy. Luna the owl flew down and landed softly beside him.

“You did a brave thing today, Milo,” she said.

Milo yawned a big monkey yawn. “I didn’t do it alone,” he whispered. “Pip helped me. And you showed me the way.”

Luna smiled. “That’s the secret, little one. When we help each other, even the hardest things become possible.”

The moon rose high above the forest, round and silver, and its light fell softly on the little well.

Milo curled up in his favorite tree, wrapped his tail around himself like a cozy blanket, and closed his eyes.

The water sparkled below.

The frogs sang their lullaby.

And Milo dreamed of tomorrow — and all the new adventures waiting in the bright green forest.

Goodnight, little Milo.
