The alley was brighter now, the light catching the edges of old spines and dusty covers. The earlier sentences were gone. Only one line remained.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Begin with what is true, even if it is small.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">He closed the book and slid it into his bag.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">When he stood, the bookstand said nothing more. James waited, half expecting it to call after him, but the alley was ordinary again. Just wood, canvas, rain-damp paper, and the distant sound of traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 18pt;\">He walked back to the main street with the book against his side.
