In a little valley full of flowers, there lived a small peach tree named Peachy.
Peachy loved spring. When spring came, he tried his best to bloom soft pink flowers, as if he were wearing a gentle little hat. When summer was near, he would grow round little peaches, like shy little lanterns.
But this year, Peachy was not very happy.
His leaves hung down softly, and he had fewer flowers than before. Even Lily, the little bird who loved singing on his branches, asked worriedly, “Peachy, are you feeling sick?”
Peachy sighed gently. “I’m not sure. I feel a little itchy, and also very tired.”
Just then, a little hedgehog wearing glasses walked over. His name was Oliver, and he was the most helpful little doctor in the valley.
Oliver walked around Peachy three times, then sniffed the soil with his small nose.
“Hmm…” Oliver said. “Your roots are a little thirsty, and there are a few naughty little aphids on your leaves. But don’t worry. It’s nothing serious. You just need some care.”
Peachy felt a little sad. “Will I never be able to bloom again, or grow any peaches?”
Oliver shook his head. “No. Every tree has times when it doesn’t feel well, just like little children sometimes catch a cold. As long as you rest and let your friends help you, you will slowly feel better.”
So Oliver called their friends for help.
Lily gently pecked the little aphids off the leaves, singing as she worked, “Little bugs, please move away. Peachy needs to rest today!”
Mia, the little rabbit, brought a small bucket of water and carefully poured it near Peachy’s roots. “Drink up. When you’ve had enough, you’ll have strength again.”
Noah, the little squirrel, brought the softest fallen leaf and placed it over the soil at Peachy’s feet. “This way, your roots won’t get too hot or too cold.”
That evening, the moon rose into the sky, round and bright like a big piece of cheese.
Peachy listened to his friends’ soft voices and smelled the sweet earth. He began to feel much better. He whispered, “Thank you.”
Oliver smiled. “You don’t need to thank us. You give us shade on sunny days, and you make a home for the birds. Now it’s our turn to take care of you.”
The next morning, the sun shone warmly.
Peachy stretched, and he noticed a new leaf quietly growing. It was tender and green, like a tiny hand that had just woken up.
“I think I’m feeling better!” Peachy said happily.
Lily flew over and landed on his new leaf. “See? I knew you would get better!”
A few days later, Peachy bloomed a few more small peach blossoms. There were not many, but each one opened with great care.
All the friends in the valley came to visit him.
Mia said, “Peachy, you look so beautiful today.”
Noah said, “When the peaches are ripe, I want to be the first to smell them.”
Oliver pushed up his glasses and said seriously, “But remember, if you don’t feel well again, please tell us early. Being sick is not something to be ashamed of. Asking for help is very brave.”
Peachy nodded. He suddenly understood that even a tree could have friends, could be cared for, and could bloom again after being sick.
Summer finally arrived.
Peachy grew three little peaches. They were not very big, but they were sweet and fragrant.
Peachy gave the first peach to Lily, the second to Mia and Noah, and kept the third for Oliver.
“This is the taste of thankfulness,” Peachy said.
Oliver took a small bite and closed his eyes happily. “Hmm, this is the taste of friendship.”
That night, a gentle wind blew through the valley. Peachy’s leaves rustled softly, as if they were telling a tender story.
The story was called:
Even when you are sick, you are still loved. And when you are willing to accept help, spring will slowly come back.
