In Mistywood Forest lived a little red panda named Pip.
Pip had soft brown fur, round black ears, and a big bushy tail that wagged from side to side. He loved climbing trees, collecting shiny little stones, and drinking hot cocoa on cool mornings. But Pip had one small problem—he often forgot to use his polite words.
One morning, Pip ran into the bakery and called out, “I want a blueberry muffin!”
Mrs. Badger, the baker, pushed her glasses up her nose and said kindly, “I can give you a muffin, Pip, but our magic muffins are only for children who remember to say ‘please.’”
Pip blinked. “Magic muffins?”
“Yes,” said Mrs. Badger with a smile. “They make your heart feel warm, like fresh warm milk.”
Pip thought for a moment, then said softly, “May I please have a blueberry muffin?”
Mrs. Badger handed him the muffin right away. “Of course! Thank you, Pip.”
Pip took a bite. Sweet blueberry jam melted in his mouth. Suddenly, his heart felt warm too.
In the afternoon, Pip went to play in the park. Nora the squirrel was swinging on the swing. Pip wanted a turn, so he rushed over and said, “Move! I want to play!”
Nora was startled and held the swing ropes tightly. She looked a little unhappy.
Pip stopped. He remembered what Mrs. Badger had said. He scratched his head, walked over to Nora, and asked, “Nora, may I have a turn when you are finished, please?”
Nora looked at him and smiled. “Yes, you may. Thank you for being so polite.”
Pip sat on the swing and began to sway gently. The wind whispered through the little trees, and the leaves rustled as if they were clapping for him.
In the evening, Pip accidentally bumped into Mr. Hedgehog and knocked all his apples out of his basket.
Pip hurriedly said, “I’m so sorry, Mr. Hedgehog! Let me help you pick them up.”
Together, they gathered all the apples and put them back in the basket. Mr. Hedgehog patted Pip’s head. “It’s all right, Pip. Saying sorry and helping is what polite friends do.”
When Pip got home, his mother was making pumpkin soup. As she handed him a bowl, Pip said, “Thank you, Mama.”
His mother smiled in surprise. “Who made my little Pip so polite today?”
Pip told her everything that had happened. Then he whispered, “‘Please,’ ‘thank you,’ and ‘I’m sorry’ really are like magic.”
His mother pulled him into a warm hug. “They are not just magic words. They are kindness from the heart. Politeness makes others happy, and it helps you make more friends.”
That night, Pip lay in his soft bed under a blanket printed with little stars. He dreamed of walking through a glowing forest. Every time he said “please,” a tiny light appeared on a tree. Every time he said “thank you,” the flowers bloomed brighter. Every time he said “I’m sorry,” the path became smoother.
The next morning, Pip woke up and called to the sunshine outside his window, “Good morning, Sun!”
Then he said to himself, “Today, I will keep being a polite little panda.”
In Mistywood Forest, a new day began. Pip’s big tail swayed gently, like a happy little flag.
Goodnight Ending (English)
Pip closed his eyes and gave a little yawn. Moonlight spilled across the floor, like a sprinkle of silver sugar.
“Good night, Mrs. Badger. Good night, Nora. Good night, Mr. Hedgehog,” he whispered. “And good night, polite little magic.”
His mother gently kissed his forehead. “Good night, my dear Pip.”
The forest grew quiet, and the stars twinkled in the sky. Pip hugged his soft pillow and drifted into a sweet, cozy dream.
May you sleep as warmly as Pip tonight, with kindness in your heart and a gentle dream beside you. Good night.
