On the edge of a little town filled with blooming daisies, lived a puppy named Oliver.
Oliver was a little dog with curly brown fur, soft floppy ears, and a tail that always wagged like a tiny windmill. His favorite things to do were chasing butterflies in the morning sunshine, or lying on the windowsill watching the postman ride by on his bicycle, ringing his bellding-a-ling.
But lately, Oliver had been feeling a little worried.
He noticed that the flowers far away looked blurry. The butterflies flew around like colorful little puffs of fog, and he couldn’t even see the postman’s hat very clearly anymore.
“Am I sick?” Oliver asked sadly, his ears drooping down.
Mrs. Bunny was the kindest doctor in town. She wore a pair of round glasses that sparkled in the sunlight.
“Oliver,” Mrs. Bunny said with a smile, “you aren’t sick. You just need a pair of glasses.”
“Glasses?” Oliver tilted his head. “But do puppies need glasses too?”
“Of course,” Mrs. Bunny nodded. “Just like you might need a pretty collar or a pair of rain boots, some puppies need glasses to see the world clearly.”
So, Oliver followed Mrs. Bunny to the town’s eyeglass shop.
The shop owner was an old owl named Mr. Otis. His shop was small and cozy, with walls covered in all sorts of glasses: red ones, blue ones, flowery ones, and even some with sparkles.
“Oh, a puppy who needs glasses!” Mr. Otis said, pushing up his own spectacles in surprise. “How rare!”
He had Oliver sit on a small chair and brought out a strange instrument, asking Oliver to look at the little pictures inside.
“What do you see, Oliver?”
“Um… a little mouse eating cheese?”
“Perfect!” Mr. Otis nodded happily. “Try this one now.”
After a careful check-up, Mr. Otis finally picked out the perfect pair for Oliver. They were tiny, round, blue glasses with a little star on the frame.
“Here, give them a try.”
Oliver carefully put on the glasses.
Wow!
The daisies outside the window suddenly became crystal clear; he could see every single petal. The butterflies in the distance weren’t blurry puffs anymore, but beautiful little fairies fluttering their wings. Even the bell on the postman’s bicycle was shining bright.
“I can see!” Oliver jumped up excitedly. “I can see everything!”
From that day on, Oliver became the most special puppy in town. Wearing his little blue glasses, he chased clear butterflies, saw the true colors of every flower, and for the first time, he could even see the tiny freckles on his neighbor Mia the Cat’s face.
That evening, Oliver lay on the windowsill, looking up at the stars in the sky.
“The stars are so bright,” he whispered. “I never knew before.”
Mrs. Bunny walked by and heard Oliver. She smiled and said, “Sometimes, we need a little help to see the true beauty of the world.”
Oliver nodded and let out a big yawn.
Wearing his little glasses, he drifted into a sweet dream. In his dream, all the flowers were singing, all the butterflies were dancing, and the whole world was clear and warm.
Goodnight, Oliver.
Goodnight, every little child wearing glasses of dreams.
