Once upon a time, on a little hillside in Sunny Forest, there lived a sweet little bunny named Bella.

Bella had soft white fur, long ears, and eyes as bright as two shiny black grapes. Her favorite thing to do was sit in the garden, munching on carrot cookies with a glass of sweet strawberry milk.

But Bella had one little problem—she was a very picky eater.

Every morning, Mama Bunny would bring her a plate full of colorful food: green spinach leaves, orange pumpkin pieces, red tomato slices, purple grapes, and a small piece of tasty cheese.

Bella would take just one look and wrinkle her little nose.

“Mama, I only want carrot cookies!”

Mama Bunny said gently, “My dear, every food on your rainbow plate gives you a different kind of super power.”

Bella shook her head. “But they don’t look fun at all.”

Then she hopped out the door to play with her friends.

That day, Sunny Forest was holding its Happy Sports Day. Little Squirrel Skip, Little Deer Lily, and Little Hedgehog Ball were all there.

The first event was the long jump.

Skip leaped lightly and cleared three big rocks in one jump.

Bella jumped with all her might, but she could only hop over a tiny mushroom.

“Oh no, I don’t have any energy,” Bella panted.

The second event was the running race.

Lily ran across the grass like the wind, but Bella slowed down before she even reached the halfway point.

“Why do my legs feel so wobbly?” she asked sadly.

The third event was the fruit-lifting contest.

Ball lifted a big red apple. Bella tried to help, but as soon as she picked up a small strawberry, she was so tired she plopped right down on the ground.

Bella lowered her head, and her long ears drooped.

“Why is everyone better than me?”

Just then, Grandpa Owl, the forest doctor, flew over. He wore round glasses and spoke in a soft, slow voice.

“Bella, let me take a look at your little plate.”

Bella whispered, “I only eat carrot cookies every day.”

Grandpa Owl smiled. “Carrots are wonderful, but your body needs more friends to help it grow strong. Green vegetables give you energy, red fruits make your eyes bright, orange foods help you run fast, purple foods keep you from getting sick, and dairy makes your bones stronger.”

Bella blinked. “Food has friends too?”

“Of course,” Grandpa Owl nodded. “They all live on the rainbow plate. Every color is a tiny energy helper.”

Bella thought for a moment and decided to give it a try.

That evening, when she got home, another rainbow-colored meal was waiting on the table.

Bella picked up a green spinach leaf and sniffed it carefully.

“Hmm… it smells like grass.” She took a tiny bite.

Mama Bunny encouraged her, “Take your time. You don’t have to finish it all at once.”

Then Bella tried a piece of orange pumpkin. It was sweet and soft, like a little autumn sun.

“This one is yummy!” Her eyes lit up.

Next, she ate a red tomato, sweet and tangy; a few purple grapes, bursting with juicy flavor; and finally, she drank a glass of milk until a little white mustache formed around her mouth.

“Mama, I look like a little cow now!” Bella giggled.

Mama Bunny laughed. “Now you’re a bunny who has eaten her rainbow plate.”

The next day, the sports day continued.

Bella stood at the starting line, feeling a little nervous. But then she remembered her rainbow plate from the night before and whispered to herself, “I have green power, orange power, and red power!”

When the whistle blew, Bella zoomed forward. Her legs felt much stronger than before, and her ears fluttered softly in the wind.

“Go, Bella! Go, Bella!” all her friends cheered.

This time, Bella didn’t come in first place, but she made it all the way to the finish line and even helped Ball pick up a rolling apple.

Skip was amazed. “Bella, you were so great today!”

Bella beamed. “Because my plate turned into a rainbow!”

From that day on, Bella still loved her carrot cookies, but she no longer ate only one thing.

Every morning, she would look at her little plate.

“Do I have a green helper today?”

“Yes!” Mama Bunny smiled as she placed spinach on the plate.

“Do I have an orange helper?”

“Yes!” Pumpkin pieces hopped onto the plate one by one.

“Do I have red, purple, and white helpers?”

“You have them all!”

Bella ate with delight. She discovered that not being picky wasn’t so hard after all. As long as you were brave enough to take one bite, you might just meet a new friend.

That night, the moon climbed above the treetops. Bella lay in bed, patted her full little tummy, and closed her eyes contentedly.

She dreamed that her plate had turned into a tiny rainbow. Standing on the rainbow were the Green Helper, the Orange Helper, the Red Helper, the Purple Helper, and the White Helper. They held hands and sang a gentle song around Bella:

“Rainbow plate, shining bright,
Every color holds a light.
Eat them all, strong and well,
Happy dreams will come to dwell.”

Bella smiled sweetly in her sleep.

From that day on, Sunny Forest had one more healthy, happy bunny who never picked at her food again.

Her name was Bella.
