A monkey went into town to have some fun and saw that men and women were all wearing gloves, which looked quite nice. The monkey went into a store and bought himself a pair of gloves.
Back in the woods, the monkey put on his colorful gloves and showed them off everywhere: “Everyone, come take a look! Look how beautiful my gloves are!”
The myna bird chimed in, “Yes, yes, they’re so beautiful! So beautiful!”
The little orangutan, who loved to flatter, said, “Hey, Monkey! You look especially spry in those gloves today—so elegant and dashing!”
Only the elderly donkey was unimpressed, saying, “Gloves are meant exclusively for humans; we animals shouldn’t just blindly copy them. A monkey wearing gloves looks a bit out of place to me.”
Hearing the donkey’s words, the monkey snapped:
“You stupid donkey, what do you know! I think you’re just too jealous.”
A few days later, the monkey suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized because he had climbed a tree while wearing gloves, lost his grip on a branch, and fell from the tree.
