Once upon a time, in a quiet little town, there was a cozy cottage with warm yellow lights glowing in the windows. On the windowsill sat a round, chubby piggy bank.
His name was Piggy.
Piggy was no ordinary piggy bank. He had a pink snout, a curly tail, and a pair of smiling little eyes. Every morning, when the sunlight streamed into the room, Piggy would give a little wiggle, as if to say:
“Good morning! Let’s have a happy day!”
The little boy who lived in the cottage was named Leo. Leo had soft hair and a smile as bright as the morning sun. His favorite thing to do was to drop his pocket money, coin by coin, into the slot on Piggy’s back.
Clink!
Whenever a coin slid inside, Piggy’s tummy would make a gentle sound.
Leo thought it sounded just like a little piglet burping after a good meal.
One day, Leo asked Piggy, “Why are you always so round?”
Piggy blinked his eyes, as if to answer:
“Because I am full of wishes.”
Leo thought for a moment and said, “I have a wish too. I want to buy a book about stars. The book says that every single star has its own name.”
From that day on, Leo started saving his money even more carefully.
In the morning, he helped his mom tidy up the bookshelf and earned a coin.
In the afternoon, he helped a neighbor pick up her dropped scarf and earned another coin.
In the evening, he put his empty juice bottles into the recycling bin, and his dad rewarded him with a shiny coin.
Every single coin wentclink as it jumped into Piggy’s tummy.
Piggy got rounder and rounder, and happier and happier.
At night, Leo would lean over his bed and whisper to Piggy, “Piggy, do you feel tired? Your tummy is getting so full.”
Piggy didn’t say a word, but he just looked at him quietly.
The moonlight spilled in from the window, landing softly on Piggy’s pink back. In that moment, Leo felt like Piggy was a gentle little planet, quietly guarding his wish.
A few days later, Leo finally counted all the coins.
“It’s enough!” he jumped up with joy. “I can buy that book about stars now!”
Leo carried Piggy to the desk. Piggy’s tummy was gently opened, and the coins fell into the box like little raindrops.
“Thank you, Piggy,” Leo said. “You helped me save up my wish, bit by bit.”
Piggy was empty now, but he was still smiling.
Leo brought home the book about stars. Inside, there was a glowing map of the night sky, and a little cat named Luna, who sat by the window every night to watch the moon.
Leo brought the book home, and with it, a new hope.
That night, he placed Piggy back on the windowsill.
“We will save up new wishes together from now on, right?”
Piggy sat quietly in the moonlight, his curly tail twitching as if he were nodding.
From then on, whenever night fell and the little town grew quiet, the stars would light up one by one. Leo would open his star book, and Piggy would sit right beside him, watching along.
Sometimes, Leo would gently pat Piggy’s head and say:
“Goodnight, Piggy.”
And Piggy seemed to say:
“Goodnight, Leo. See you tomorrow.”
The moonlight on the windowsill was like a soft little blanket, covering them both.
